The three finalists showcased their design philosophy through short films, explaining to the audience their interpretations of “True to Self”. Christian Stockert, born into a family of jewellery designers, drew inspiration from the classics. He was also inspired by the free-flowing fluidity of a stream. His work is presented in a variety of forms, all conveying fluidity and individuality. Kung Ka Ki, with more than two decades of experience as a jewellery designer, connects the “eternal and everlasting” properties of platinum with memories. Through the unique application of contoured surfaces and special treatment of platinum surfaces, his work is full of stories that it allows the wearer to express one's true self. Pei-Nap Mok blends Chinese and western aesthetics and his pieces are defined by constant changes in colour and its interplay with light. Each piece of jewellery is therefore matched with a variety of colourful materials contrasting with the pure white brilliance of platinum, thereby creating a delightful play of colour.

“PGI has always been committed to cultivating emerging creative talents and creating more contemporary platinum jewellery designs. This fits perfectly with the objective of Lane Crawford’s ‘Global Creative Call Out’. Creativity is a language, a belief, but more importantly, an attitude. This is especially true for young people who are steadfast in their beliefs. Even in the face of adversity that the world is facing today, we believe they will never lose their creative spirit. This is worthy of celebration,” Mr.Yeap said at the event. Mr.Xu also commented, “Through the ‘Global Creative Call Out’ event, we hope to discover and cultivate more creative forces and future creative stars.”

As one of the most authentic means of expression, creativity can be displayed through multiple forms. For the first time, consumers were invited to participate and vote alongside professional judges for “GCC2020”. It was also the hope of PGI that consumers would participate in the process of selecting winners, thus participating in bringing to market platinum jewellery pieces that are reflective of their true selves.
